Boot Camp

5 Day Boot Camp (40 hours of training)

Our Advanced Wiring Boot Camp is a hands-on class specializing in Installing Magnetic & Piezo Pickup Systems. Offered as a 5 day bootcamp and limited to four students. Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • How magnetic & Piezo pickups work
  • Passive & Active system replacement and repair
  • Replacing and Re-Wiring switches, pots, output jacks and pickups.
  • Evaluating & troubleshooting problems.

Workshop cost is $1,500 per student. 50% of tuition ($750) is due 30 days before the workshop begins. The remaining balance is due on the first day of class.

Workshop includes tool kit ( $500 value ), materials & supplies, and training manuals.

Students receive a Professional Tool Kit

All students will receive a professional tool kit (yours to keep). In addition, we will provide all supplies & study materials for each student. In other words, we will never nickel & dime you for things you need during class.

Classes are limited to 4 students

We limit all of our Workshops to 4 students. Training is hands-on, our goal is for every student to fully comprehend the curriculum. Learning in a small class, you won’t have to fight the crowd to get a question answered. 

Grading

Grading is based on three types of exam; written, performance and presentation. Students with a grade of 80% or higher will receive a certificate of completion. Students who score 88% or higher will receive a letter of recommendation.

Humbuckers

We will learn the various ways to wire a Humbucker (Dual Coil) Pickups. Including Series, Parallel, Coil Taps and Phasing.

Single Coil Pickups

Learn how to install single coil pickups. Including Coil Cuts, RWRP and Phasing.

Pots, Switches & Jacks

The most commonly replaced components are Pots, Switches & Output Jacks. We will explore the various types and values of Volume & Tone Pots. In addition, we will learn about different Switches (blade/toggle/push) and Output Jacks (mono/stereo/TRS).

Pickup Adjustment

When the pickups are adjusted correctly, your guitar will sound great. However, when adjusted incorrectly, you may experience load pops, intonation issues, string rattle or weak output.

Active Pickup Systems

Active pickup systems are found in both Electric & Acoustic guitars. We will explore both Piezo and Magnetic (active) pickup systems, and ways to combine multiple systems. Including the Taylor ES-1 & ES-2 Systems.
